We get a lot of inquiries about our Management hunt so in an effort to reduce the amount of questions we get asked please take the time to read through this page to get an idea of this is the hunt for you.
How much is the hunt?
The price of this hunt is $3,500 per person if you have two or more hunters. We allow parties to book a mix of trophy & management hunts to fit all hunters goals. All of our hunts are fully guided and you will be accompanied by an experienced guide each day. We do not offer discounts.
What are my odds of success?
We carefully manage our properties to maximize quality and opportunity for all of our hunters. We have had 100% opportunity over the last 4 seasons. This does not mean that you are guaranteed to go home with an animal but it does mean that if you show up prepared and put in a good effort that you will very likely be going home with an animal. We often get asked what type of deer to expect. Every management buck pictured on this page was harvested in the last few seasons so please take the time to look through the photos to get an idea of what we have to offer. Please keep in mind that not everyone can go home with the biggest deer in the gallery.
Our definition of a management buck is a deer that is 4.5+ years old and does not have the genetic potential to score 160”. With that in mind there are some absolutely magnificent deer that fall into this category and that is why we decided to offer the management hunt. We are still going out to try to find you the best deer possible and we often pass on smaller bucks to try to find the right one. We want to get those big old bruiser bucks out of the gene pool so that the bucks with superior genetics have the chance to breed. Often times the most dominant buck is a big old 3x3 or 3x4 runs the show.
What type of deer are we looking for?
We get this question all of the time. The best answer is that when the weather has been terrible for 2-3 days and then you get a nice day with no wind and some sunshine to bring the deer out. Since it is impossible to tell when that is going to be the next best time is the week that fits with your schedule. You do not need the rut to be in full swing to kill a deer in fact when the deer are in peak rut they lock down with a doe and get very tough to find. Our season starts the last week in October and runs through the Sunday after Thanksgiving. If you can get away from family commitments the last week of the season is my personal favorite time to hunt but is always a tough hunt to fill because it falls over Thanksgiving.
When is the best time to come?
This is the most common and difficult questions to answer. If one hunter shoots a buck at 400 yards and one shoots a buck at 50 yards then what is the “average” shot? Deer have exceptional eyesight and use the open landscape to their advantage to avoid predators. We ask that you show up with an accurate rifle and are comfortable using it out to at least 300 yards. We kill a number of bucks inside of 250 yards but if you can shoot 350+ it will only increase your odds of killing a good buck.
How far is the average shot?
